Michaela Taylor

MSW, RSW
Registered Social Worker
Psychotherapist

Hi, I’m Michaela! I hold a Behavioural Psychology undergraduate degree and a Masters of Social Work. I spent five years working in acute inpatient psychiatric care for children and youth ages 5-17 and currently work as a mental health social worker in the emergency department at my local hospital. My experience with youth has allowed me to understand both the situational and developmental implications of being an adolescent in today’s world. My current role has provided me with skills to support individuals in crisis across the lifespan.

I believe every human being is unique, there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach, and each person deserves to seek counseling with a therapist who tailors their approach to what fits the client best. I am extremely passionate about helping people through some of life’s most stressful and challenging situations and developing useful skills to do so. I firmly believe that compassion and empathy are the cornerstones for developing positive working relationships with individuals. Additionally, I believe that therapy should not be an added stressor to one’s already busy life, rather a collaborative approach that is beneficial for each client. I can’t wait to connect and figure out how I can best support you!

"You don’t have to be positive all the time. It’s perfectly okay to feel sad, angry, annoyed, frustrated, scared and anxious. Having feelings doesn’t make you a negative person. It makes you human." - Lori Deschene
