Registered Social Worker
Psychotherapist
I hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work and an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Behavioural Psychology. I have also completed additional training in a variety of modalities, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) in Trauma, as well as Brief and Narrative Therapy. I am a lifelong academic, passionate about learning and being competent with new approaches and training that support those I work with. I have extensive experience working in various mental health settings, including inpatient and outpatient care. I am currently working at a not-for-profit community agency focusing on individualized one-on-one mental health counselling for transitional-age youth. I have worked with individuals experiencing various difficulties, including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, psychosis, complex trauma, interpersonal challenges, life stressors, identity struggles, and emotional dysregulation in individual and group settings.
As a therapist, I generally draw on an eclectic therapeutic approach grounded in evidence-based practices, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Narrative Therapy. Personal experiences and the stories shared with me professionally have profoundly shaped the way I practice. I have an empathetic, genuine, non-judgmental approach. The therapeutic relationship and the rapport we establish are imperative for successful psychotherapy. I do this by providing a safe space for you and by working with you on creating change by utilizing your strengths and developing your coping strategies. I feel humbled and privileged when I hear the stories and personal journeys of those I work with. Includes treatment for, but not limited to: Anxiety, Depression, Life Stressors, Emotional Dysregulation, Distress Tolerance Skills, Anger Management, Complex Mental Health, Trauma
