Megan Bowes
Intern Registered Psychotherapist (Q)
Are you struggling with stress, relationship issues, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, or trauma? Are you looking for a compassionate professional to support you through a difficult time?
Hi! My name is Megan, and I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. I am a Master of Arts candidate, in Yorkville University’s Counselling Psychology program.
I have worked in the field of human services for more than 10 years, working with adults from all walks of life, facing a wide variety of challenges such as poverty and insecure housing, relationship difficulties, substance and behavioural addictions, and involvement with the justice system. My work as a crisis volunteer for a metropolitan sexual assault centre provided me with extensive experience with interpersonal violence and crisis situations, and sparked my passion for anti-oppression work and women’s issues.
I work from a strengths-based, person-centered perspective, drawing from evidence-based modalities including, but not limited to, mindfulness-based, internal family systems, and somatic experiencing, as well as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). I am described as a compassionate, warm, and genuine person. I bring these qualities into the therapy room, where I strive to create a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment, in which my clients feel supported as they embark on their healing journeys.
Although I am new to psychotherapy, I bring with me a passion for helping others and for self-improvement, and a dedication to continue to evolve as a therapist. I would be honoured to join you on your path toward healing and growth.
